Activities at the Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary


The Bountiful Birds of Santa Fe
This monthly series consists of a Thursday evening class (6:30–8:30 PM) at the Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary, offered in a fun and interesting format, followed by a Saturday field trip (8:30–10:30 AM). The cost is $15 each month and includes both the Thursday lecture and the Saturday field trip. All proceeds go towards the Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary programs and conservation activities.   Waterfowl, Shorebirds, Ducks, and Geese: Learn how to identify these “dabblers and divers,” then we’ll go looking for them on Saturday. PLEASE CALL AHEAD IF THE WEATHER IS BAD.

Natural History of the Santa Fe River
Have you ever wondered about the name of that plant or animal you saw, or how it lives in this environment? Come join us as we explore the fascinating natural world right in our backyards. Bring the whole family to discover local plants and animals and learn what you can do to help protect them. This series of natural history programs is co-sponsored by the Randall Davey Audubon Center and the Santa Fe Watershed Association.   Reptiles: Encounter our reptilian friends with Ted Brown, noted herpetologist, in the Randall Davey classroom.

GrosbeakGuided Bird Walks
Every Saturday morning an experienced birder will lead an easy walk on the grounds of the 135–acre wildlife sanctuary that is the Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary. Bring your binoculars or borrow ours. All skill levels are welcome.

Every Saturday at 8:30 AM beginning March 7th
Details:
FREE. No reservations required. Meet in the parking lot.

HouseRandall Davey Historic House Tours
Step back in time as you stroll through the old Santa Fe style home (originally a lumber mill built in 1847 by the U.S. Army), of the artist Randall Davey (1887-1964). This docent-led tour will give you an opportunity to view some of Davey’s most spectacular works of art, as well as a beautiful collection of Spanish Colonial and European antiques.

Every Friday at 2:00 PM
Details:
$5.00 per person. Reservations recommended. Meet in the Nature Store.
 
Private tours ($20.00 per person) can be arranged by calling 505-983-4609 or signing up at the Nature Store.

Nature Trails at Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary
The Randall Davey Audubon Center Nature Trails are accessible daily from 8:00 AM–dusk (barring any closures during fire season). Please sign in and pay fees at the Nature Center.

Daily from 8:00 AM–dusk
Groups under 8 people:
$2.00 adults, $1.00 children 12 & under. Members free.
Groups over 8 people:
$5.00 adults, $1.00 children 12 & under.

Group Use of Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary
If you are bringing a group for a picnic, birthday party, or other gathering, please notify Linda Newberry (505-983-4609) in advance so that your event can be coordinated with other activities. Please sign your group in and pay fees at the Nature Center.
