Site Description A high mountain canyon in the National Forest with private in-holdings. The lower end of this canyon contains a marsh. Mixed conifer or spruce-fir is found at the upper end grading into Ponderosa Pine at the lower end.
Birds This canyon may contain Spotted Owls. Other high priority PIF species are found in great abundance here. This is the canyon with the southern-most known breeding location for Lincoln's Sparrow in the state.

Other species with high populations: Yellow-rumped Warbler (48), Broad-tailed Hummingbird (54), Warbling Vireo (58), Violet-green Swallow (46), Golden-crowned Kinglet (33), Orange-crowned Warbler (10).
Conservation Issues 1. Riparian grazing and lowering of the water table are helping to create cuts in the canyon.
2. A marsh at the eastern end of the canyon is in danger of being completely drained.
