| Site Description |
Ruby Ranch is a well managed ranch owned by the Kirkpatrick
family of Post, Texas. The Sapello Creek runs through the property. There are
mature cottonwoods and willow thickets along the creek. Two large lakes are on the
property, lakes Isabel and David. Grasslands comprise the majority of the
property. |

Feeding and staging area for thousands of waterfowl and
shorebirds in migration. Wintering area for Bald Eagle. Numerous songbirds breed
here and great diversity of songbirds in migrations.

Sabine's Gull, September 1998 and October 1997; Red Phalarope, October 1998;
Pacific Loon, October 1997; Whimbrel, May 1997; Ruddy Turnstone, October 1999;
Golden-crowned Sparrow, October 1999; Magnolia Warbler, May 2000; Hooded

Northeast of Las Vegas, take exit 352 north to what was the
community of Los Alamos (~3.5 miles). Ruby Ranch is on the right at a
sharp curve to the west. Private land, do not trespass. |
