| Site Description |
Contains several canyons primarily containing piñon/juniper and ponderosa pine
with a high preponderance of oak. |
| Birds |
According to USGS Breeding Bird Survey this site has a very
high density of Virginia's Warbler. Average =1.07/stop as opposed to the best
elsewhere in New Mexico (Vallecitos) of 0.4/stop.
There are also high numbers of Grace's Warbler and Plumbeous Vireo. There are a
number of other Partners in Flight priority species breeding here. |
| Conservation Issues |
Some areas in Tajique Canyon have been excluded from
grazing for some period but not permanently. Other areas are grazed but not excessively. |
